2014 – NÁVŠTĚVA Z 307. BOMBARDOVACÍHO KŘÍDLA/VISIT FROM 307 BW USAF

Členové 307. bombardovacího křídla naši republiku navštívili již několikrát a fandové letadel se s nimi mohli nevědomky dokonce i setkat, a to v při Dnech NATO v Mošnově. Byla to právě totiž tato jednotka, která tu z letecké základny v Barksdale, Luisiana, 2 x přelétla stroj B-52H Stratofortress, poprvé v r. 2010 a podruhé, tentokrát se 2 stroji, v r. 2012. Pilot Lt. Col. Joe Jones, shodou okolností bývalý příslušník 2nd BW (nástupnická jednotka 2nd BG), se při svých cestách do Mošnova dozvěděl o misi 263, potažmo bombardování Moravské Ostravy, a následně se s námi zkontaktoval. Postupem času se okruh našich přátel jak z 307 BW, tak 2 BW začal rozrůstat, z čehož máme velkou radost a v září 2014 se několik důstojníků rozhodlo při své cestě do Evropy, místa spojena s leteckou bitvou, navštívit. Byli to Lt. Col. David Webb, Lt. Col. James Morriss a Capt. Kerry Baker a rozhodně se nejednalo o jejich poslední návštěvu.

Members of 307th bomb wing visited our country several times and aviation enthusiatists could even meet them during the NATO days at the Mosnov airport. This unit, based at the Barrksdale AFB in Luisiana, sent the B-52H Stratofortress to our country, for a first time in 2010 and in 2012 for a second time, this time even 2 machines at the same time. Their pilot, Lt. Col Joe Jones, as a former member of 2 BW (ex 2 BG) learned during his trips to our country about the Mission 263 (air raid on Moravska Ostrava) and his interest got him in touch with us. By the time the group of our friends both from 307 BW and 2 BW grew up and we really appreciate it. Our frienship resulted in a visit of several officers from 307 BW as they decided to visit, during their trip to Europe, also the places connected with the air battle. It was Lt. Col. David Webb, Lt. Col. James Morriss and Capt. Kerry Baker who visited us and it for sure wasn´t their last visit.
