2018 – 74. VÝROČÍ / 74TH ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATION

Po roce jsme opět uctili památku padlých letců Letecké bitvy nad Bílými Karpaty. Letos se sice nezúčastnili zahraniční hosté, ale vzpomínková akce byla věnována památce pana Loye Dickinsona, který byl posledním žijícím přímým účastníkem bitvy. Pan Loy Dickinson zemřel dne 23.7.2018. Čest jeho památce!

Tak jako vždy, i letos jsme postupně navštívili místa spojená s bitvou, a to Slavičín, Šanov, Přečkovice, Rudice, Krhov a Vyškovec. A už tradičně nám doprovod vytvořila parta nadšenců s historickými vozidly. Přijeli z Brněnska, Suchdola n. Odrou, Bystřice pod Hostýnem, Koryčan, Hlinska a dokonce i ze Slovenska. Za to, že k nám jezdí už automaticky a dlouhodobě, jim patří náš velký dík a obdiv. Děkujeme chlapi a ženy a klobouk dolů!

Taktéž děkujeme zastupcům jednotlivých obcí, muzejních spolků a Pplk. Jon R. Fisherovi, zástupci vedoucího Kanceláře pro obrannou spolupráci při americké ambasádě v Praze, za účást na vzpomínkových akcích. Lt. Col. Fisher, jako příslušník Letectva Spojených států amerických, za své aktivní služby sloužil jako pilot záchranářského vrtulníku v Iráku a Afganistánu a akce na něm zanechala silný dojem.

After one year we commemorated the memory of the fallen american fliers of the air battle over the White Carpathians again. This year we had no foreign visitors but the commemoration was dedicated to the memory of Mr. Loy Dickinson, the last living Mission 263 survivor. Mr. Loy Dickinson passed away on Luly 23, 2018. May he rest in peace!

As every year, we visited the places joined with the air battle as Slavicin, Sanov, Preckovice, Rudice, Krhov and Vyskovec. And traditionally, we were accompanied by the group of enthusiasts with their Jeeps and Dodges. They arrived from Brno, Suchdol n. Odrou, Bystrice p. Hostynem, Korycany, Hlinsko and even from Slovakia. We really apreciate the fact that they attendance at our commemorations is automatic and long lasting. Thank you guys and girls and hat down!

We also thank to the town representatives and history club members and also to Lt. Col. Jon R. Fisher, the Deputy Chief of the Office of Defense Cooperation from the US Embassy in Prague, for their attendance at the commemoration. Lt. Col. Jon R. Fisher, as a member of United States Air Force, served as a rescue helicopter pilot in Iraq and Afganistan during his active duty and he was very impressed by this event.

We also thank to Jitka Hauerlandova and Simona, my wife, for the pictures taken during the event.
